Dell Curry:
Former Sixth Man of the Year Dell Curry was instant offense off the bench for the Charlotte Hornets in the 1990s. Curry was one of the best pure shooters in the game; he maintained career shooting percentages of .402 from three-point range and .843 from the free throw line. The longest tenured player in team history is the New Orleans Hornets' all-time leading scorer with 9,839 points in 701 games. He also owns the franchise record for threes with 929 baskets from long distance. Curry averaged 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists overall for the Hornets.
Eddie Jones:
Three-time All-Star shooting guard Eddie Jones earned the only All-NBA nod of his career during his two-year stint with the Hornets in 1999 and 2000. Jones was a sharpshooter and a lockdown defender who came to the Hornets in one of two high-profile trades between the Hornets and the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1990s. He averaged 19.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.8 steals as a Hornet. He ranks 12th in NBA history with 1,546 three-pointers and his 1,620 steals are good for 22nd.
Kendall Gill:
Former swingman Kendall Gill began his long career with three seasons in Charlotte from 1990 to 1993. By his second season in the league, Gill had developed into an All-Star caliber two-guard with averages of 20.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game in his sophomore campaign. He totaled 4,159 points with the Hornets and 12,914 overall in 15 NBA seasons. His career averages include 13.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 steals.
Rex Chapman:
Rex Chapman was the first player ever drafted by the Hornets, joining the team as the eighth selection of the 1988 NBA Draft. An excellent athlete and perimeter shooter, Chapman earned All-Rookie honors as the second leading scorer for the expansion Hornets. Over 220 games with the team, he maintained averages of 16.2 points, 2.9 assists and 2.3 three-pointers per game. He played 12 seasons in the league and totaled 9,731 points with 805 threes.
Hersey Hawkins:
One-time All-Star shooting guard Hersey Hawkins was one of the NBA's best pure shooters of the 1990s. After becoming the top scorer for the Philadelphia 76ers, Hawkins joined a stacked young Hornets team in 1993 and averaged 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals over the next two seasons. For his career as a whole, Hawkins scored 14,470 points with 1,622 steals, 1,226 threes, a .394 three-point percentage and an .870 free throw percentage.
