The preseason All-Big 12 Team is out and it includes one Kansas State Wildcat and a pair of Kansas Jayhawks.
The "Son of Cimarron"
Ian campbell is the lone K-State representative. The senior defensive end is the only returning 2-time 1st-team selection coming into the season. Last year, Campbell racked up 45 tackles, including 11 for loss, 4.5 sacks, and an interception. The Wildcats are picked to finish 5th in the North Division.
The Kansas Jayhawks are represented on the preseason list by senior linebacker Joe Mortensen and senior return specialist Marcus Herford.
Mortensen earned 1st-Team All-Conference honors a season ago, averaging better than 8 tackles per game. Herford is the reigning Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year after ranking 2nd in the league and 15th in the nation in kickoff return average. The Hawks are picked to finish 2nd in the North.
KU quarterback Todd Reesing was named to Davey O'Brien Award Watch List on Thursday. The award goes to the top signal caller in the country. The junior threw for nearly 3,500 yards, 33 touchdowns compared to just seven interceptions in 2007 - leading the hawks to a 12-1 record and No.7 ranking at season's end.
