NBA: New Orleans 90, Detroit 87
Chris Paul's two free throws with 6 seconds left Wednesday and Walter Herrmann's missed 3-point buzzer-beater left New Orleans a 90-87 winner over Detroit.
Detroit lost its eighth straight, the Pistons' longest streak of futility in 14 seasons. Detroit, with a 27-29 record, has a losing mark this deep in the season for the first time since 2001.
David West led the way for New Orleans with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Paul added 20 points and 13 assists to help bring the Hornets their fourth win in six games.
Rip Hamilton led Detroit with 24 points. The Pistons' Allen Iverson left the game in the opening period with back stiffness. He scored only two points.
