The Orlando Magic signed free agent forward Matt Barnes to an undisclosed contract on Thursday.
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting the deal to be a two-year agreement with a player option for the 2010-11 season.
"Matt (Barnes) is a versatile player that fits very well with our style of play,"
said Otis Smith, Orlando's general manager. "He is a good defender, can knock down the open shot and is coming off his best season as a pro. We're happy to welcome Matt to the Magic family."
Barnes, 29, bounced around the league before finding his niche with Golden State in 2006-07, when he logged a then career-high 9.8 points in 76 games.
The UCLA product signed a one-year contract with Phoenix last season and recorded career-highs across the board with 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
Over his six-year career, Barnes has averaged 7.0 points and 4.1 rebounds in 363 games with the Clippers, Kings, Knicks, 76ers, Warriors and Suns.
The defending Eastern Conference champions will have a decidedly new look in the 2009-10 campaign, replacing the loss of the versatile Hedo Turkoglu with All-Star guard Vince Carter via trade and adding forward Brandon Bass via free agency.
